My Girl, You make me wonder
What goes inside that paradoxical thing called your mind
Because one moment you’re an angel
Another, your wings disappear, you become one of us.
I find myself holding your face
Trying to gauge the depth
And I realize it’s not in my strength
Coz you dance and I sing
You’re Jack Johnson and I’m Sting
Mine’s dead and your phones ring
Still, you mean my everything.
Mirrors don’t lie
They say im the fake
Wondering why you still hold me
And talk about our family.
Surprise again, when mirrors lie
‘Objects in the rear view mirror appear closer than they are’
Girl you couldn’t be any closer
Coz your heart is beating on my back
And thus you make my gearwheel move across the city.
Well you did trip on that cloud
You did fall to Earth
Blessed I am, you fell on my path
You’re mine and I hope that’s the way it stays
And here I am- rhyme I have none
I’ve traded them all to pure raw feel
The wind on my face and the night in my eyes
Tonight, as I speed on these wheels of steel.
And girl I love you like a child
I love you tame and I love you wild
I confess you’re new, but strangely so,
I’ve known you for a thousand years or more.
And guess what I want to do right now?
I wanna wake up with you in the sunshine
Get drunk with you on old wine
Go cycling and fall clumsily on beach sand
Have our kids and form a rock band.
Now sweating bullets on these narrow streets
Walking like a zombie on a ballad beat
Nothing’s familiar on these shiny new lanes
Rest in peace, those memories remain.
On the other side, still those fishing boats sail
Come rain or shine, thunder or gale
Cassock clad priests on motorbikes, Somewhere a band practicing over the mike
Beautiful Anglo-Indian couples stroll, Seagulls respond to the Ocean’s call
Rising prices, Tea and spices, World cup cricket, Movie tickets,
Barber shops, Big bellied cops, Buses insane, Coconut oil stains, Flash!
Suddenly at rest, now I sit by a tea
All I need is a home and a family
Coz home is not home as it used to be
Everyone’s changed and I remained me.
